Strengthening our network: Welcome to ECGA’s new associate members

We are pleased to announce that two new companies were approved as associate members during the recent ECGA General Assembly: GreenRoc Strategic Materials Plc and SPYS Ukraine. Their addition further strengthens ECGA’s growing network and reflects the increasing strategic importance of resilient graphite value chains for Europe’s industrial future.

GreenRoc Strategic Materials Plc

GreenRoc is advancing its graphite development activities in Greenland and Norway, with a strong focus on building an integrated graphite-to-anode-materials value chain for Europe. The company is developing the Amitsoq Graphite Project and is also working to build capability to process graphite into anode-ready material, supporting Europe’s ambition to strengthen domestic battery materials supply chains.

This relevance has already been recognised at the EU level. In June 2025, the European Commission included GreenRoc’s integrated Norway-Greenland graphite project among the Strategic Projects under the Critical Raw Materials Act, underlining its significance for the future supply of battery-grade graphite in Europe.

SPYS Ukraine

SPYS Ukraine is a mining and geological exploration company active in the extraction of a range of mineral resources, including graphite. For ECGA, its graphite-related activities are particularly relevant, as the company is associated with a graphite project in the Khmelnytskyi region of western Ukraine, highlighting the importance of upstream resource development for stronger and more diversified European supply chains.

The addition of SPYS Ukraine brings a valuable upstream perspective to ECGA at a time when access to critical raw materials, supply chain resilience, and closer cooperation across the wider European graphite ecosystem are becoming increasingly important. This is especially relevant as Ukraine continues to be recognised for its mineral resource potential, including graphite.

We warmly welcome GreenRoc Strategic Materials Plc and SPYS Ukraine to ECGA and look forward to working together to support innovation, strengthen supply chain resilience, and reinforce the role of graphite in Europe’s industrial transition.
