ECGA is pleased to share details of the first European Permitting Conference, organised by the Informal Coalition on Permitting (ICP).
From Bottlenecks to Breakthroughs:
Rethinking Industrial Permitting for a Competitive & Climate-Neutral Europe
As Europe works to strengthen its competitiveness, industrial resilience and security of supply, lengthy, complex and fragmented permitting procedures continue to delay strategic industrial and energy projects.
For Europe’s carbon and graphite industry, efficient and predictable permitting is essential to unlock investment, expand European industrial capacity and strengthen resilient value chains, while upholding robust environmental standards.
The conference will bring together senior representatives from the European institutions, Member States, permitting authorities, industry, financial institutions and civil society to exchange practical experience, discuss current policy developments and identify concrete solutions.
The programme will explore:
- Cross-sector permitting bottlenecks and opportunities for simplification
- Strengthening Europe’s industrial base through the CCS value chain
- More effective permitting for renewable and geothermal energy projects
- Practical perspectives from permitting authorities, Member States and industry
